Guidance

As the school counselor I do love working with students!  Students fill out a counseling slip and we find a suitable time to talk.  Sometimes your child gets to be a part of a small group.  I send a permission letter home first.  Small groups usually meet during lunch.  I look forward to your child being part of a small group as we learn and grow together at Huddleston Elementary School.  I enjoy communicating with parents.  Please call or email me with any questions or concerns.

The Counselor’s Role:

  • To help foster social skills development in the small group setting.
  • To guide students through issues such as: being new, making friends, family change, being bullied, the loss of a family member, or  having an incarcerated parent
  • To go into classrooms to teach guidance lessons that are developmental in nature with a focus on ways to learn, the six pillars of character, decision making, taking a stand against bullying, drug education, and career awareness
