Principal's Page

My name is Traci Oakes, and I am the principal of Huddleston Elementary School. I am passionate about education and about providing students with an engaging learning experience each and every day. Our motto is “A Place to Grow” and we truly believe that Huddleston Elementary is a wonderful place to watch our students achieve social-emotional and academic success.

Before joining the Bedford community, I served as an educator and school leader for nearly twenty-one years in Franklin County. I began working in Bedford County in 2016 when I was hired as the Assistant Principal at Goodview Elementary before coming to Huddleston as principal for the 2017-2018 school year.

In my educational studies, I have obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Roanoke College, a Master of Education degree from Mary Baldwin and an Educational Specialist degree from Virginia Tech.

Families, faculty, staff and community partners all have a responsibility to encourage our children to become active learners and future leaders in our community. I look forward to working with you towards this endeavor. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your student. My greatest desire is to provide leadership that will facilitate a school environment where students and their teachers thrive.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me by phone, email or in person with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Traci Oakes, M.Ed., Ed.S.
